Fermium (Fm) with an atomic weight of 100 was in found the contaminated coral from Eniwetok atoll after the 10 mega ton Ivy Mike nuclear tests in the South Pacific in 1952 , some of its isotopes have a half life as an element a brief moment of only 30 minutes . A fleeting residue of deep lasting damage . Odd poetic numbers and descriptions of newly formed elements that come out of a hunt for power.

At the edge of Saltholme RSPB bird reserve in the heart of industrial Middlesbrough, (inspiration to Ridley Scots Blade Runner ) , parked in a lay-by, I’m gently rocked by passing Petroleum trucks and wagons that roll by. The Sun is setting golden in the sky framing the transporter bridge, and rendering the ponds as precious metal . The local nuclear reactor hums, water birds birds call, flames lick this cold winter sky. Facing to sun and my back to the road I start to weave sounds into this brief fermium moment a transformed world, a Midas twilight. All but briefly reveald in the suns last flash.
